Shin Izakaya: Reviews & Ratings
This has become my favorite Japanese restaurant in Paris so far (outside of Ramen). The atmosphere is cozy, the attention was really friendly, and the food was outstanding. I will definitely come back. I took the following dishes + my recommendation: - Kaarage, Ribs, Terikyaki, Miso soup: 10/10 - Veggies: 8/10, good to complement the meat. - Rice of the day: 9/10 - Eggs Mayo: 7/10, Good but I would recommend something else as an entrance. - Negroni: 10/10 - Recommended Would definitely come back to do the sake tasting. Recommended!!
Wonderful little Japanese restaurant off the St Germain. Cool atmosphere, great music, wonderful staff, (Lucas was the best, so knowledgeable and friendly !)and even better food. The scallops were the freshest and so tasty, they’re a must have. The karaage is also incredibly tasty. The menu has something for everyone and every option is going to be good. Amazing quality at a more than fair price point.
We had dinner and the food was above average. Not by much though. We have no complaints but I don't think I would go again. Nice place overall.

Located in the heart of Paris' 6th arrondissement, Shin Izakaya offers an authentic taste of Japan with a warm, inviting atmosphere. This cozy Japanese restaurant, nestled on Rue des Ciseaux, thrives on delivering genuine flavors through carefully crafted dishes and attentive service.
From the moment you step inside, you sense the passion behind every plate. The standout karaage (Japanese fried chicken) perfectly balances a crispy exterior with juicy, tender meat—truly a must-try. Accompanying the savory ribs and rich teriyaki dishes, these classics showcase the kitchen’s mastery of traditional techniques. The miso soup and daily rice, simple yet refined, harmonize the meal with authentic comfort.
Vegetable sides provide a refreshing complement, adding texture and balance. For starters, the eggs mayo offers a familiar but slightly less exciting option, inviting diners to explore other appetizing beginnings. Seafood lovers will appreciate the fresh scallops and delicate carpaccio de daurade, both praised for their vibrant taste and freshness—clear highlights that reflect Shin Izakaya’s commitment to quality ingredients.
What elevates the dining experience is not only the food but also the ambiance and service. With friendly, knowledgeable staff like Lucas guiding guests through the menu and ideal sake or cocktail pairings, the atmosphere becomes as memorable as the cuisine. The Negroni and expertly crafted highballs add a stylish touch to the meal, rounding out the sensory delight.
Dessert lovers will find joy in the chocolate fondant, intriguingly paired with haricot rouge, adding depth and originality to the sweet finale. While some diners might find the experience slightly above average, the consistent praise for both flavor and hospitality makes Shin Izakaya a reliable gem for authentic Japanese flavors in Paris.
